Profile

SmartAdopt is a non-profit, full-service center run by SmartLife organisation.

SmartAdopt was launched on 28th May, 2010, during the presentation ceremony of Western Union SmartCup 2010, by His Excellency Sanjay Verma, Consul General of India.

The concept of SmartAdopt was nurtured and cherished by the members of SmartLife. The idea crept in when we realized that the blue collar brethren though highly talented lack confidence and need reassurance. They needed companionship and not just compassion.

At that particular time SmartLife was organizing a cricket tournament with nine teams. Each team had an equal mix of white collar office goers and blue collar workers. The tournament was a grand success, there was perfect coordination and team spirit shown, and in fact the supporters and cheerers could not find who is who. This sowed an idea of SmartAdopt.

In SmartAdopt a white collar office goer adopts a blue collar worker. The mentor calls the labourer or the adopted person once a week and speaks to him/her. This helps the lesser privileged brethren to gain confidence, at the same time the mentor can find the talent in his ward and help him excel in it. The mentor should meet the adopted labourer at least once a month to understand him/her better. SmartLife conducts various personality development classes like Office etiquette, English Speaking Classes etc, the mentor should make sure that his/her ward attends these classes, if the mentor thinks it will help his ward or if the ward is interested in attending these classes.

SmartLife has a database of the blue collar workers who need assistance. The office goers who are interested and have a passion to help the lesser privileged brethren can log on to our site and choose the person he/she would like to assist. The choice can be based on the local language they both can speak in, or the hometown they come from, only condition is the mentor and the ward should be of same sex. SmartLife links the Office goers and workers. Once the adoption is done, the mentor will be in contact with all the other mentors on the web.

The weekly report will be submitted by the mentor on the web and this will be monitored by SmartLife, if there is an issue which need a professional or legal assistance then SmartLife will get the required help and try and unravel the problem.

At no circumstance will there be any monetary transaction between the mentor and his ward. Similarly the ward is not allowed to lend a hand in any of the mentor's needs. SmartAdopt will be web based. If mentor is facing an issue with his ward he can discuss it with other mentors and they can collectively sole the problem or the mentor can seek the assistance of SmartLife.
